Tell us about the place where you grew up?
Denton - yep, just like in The Rocky Horror Picture Show - but this Denton was a suburb of Manchester. I was buying tons of vinyl and peeking through Adult Club windows by the time I was 13.Did you experience a childhood musical epiphany? The day I flipped Adam and the Ants' Stand and Deliver to discover the S&M anthem Beat My Guest the whole world changed and I knew what I was going to be. I can't remember anything about what happened once the needle dropped but I sort of "came to" when it finished on the other side of the room with the couch overturned and loads of mum's ornaments smashed. Any gig, any time, which would you choose?Monterey 1967. I mean, c'mon! The Who, Hendrix, Otis Redding and Janis Joplin!Who would you like to be stuck next to on a long-haul flight?Pete Townshend, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Patti Smith or James Mercer (of the Shins). If you could be another musician, who would you pick?If it could be anyone living or dead, it would be Keith Moon, Bon Scott or Howling Wolf. If you could be a character in a movie, who would you be?Han SoloFavourite album in the car?Patti Smith's Horses, Andre Williams' Silky, Quadrophenia by The Who, Beasts of Bourbon's Black Milk, or Motorhead's No Remorse.Secret musical indulgence?Jellyfish and Kiss.Who is inspiring you lyrically? The Shins, the Replacements and Sparklehorse.King Daddy launch their debut album Evil Love (Spooky) tonight at Pony, city (2am) and tomorrow at Fitzroy's Old Bar.
